PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT ADDRESSES SAFETY CONCERNS AT THE SAMUEL E. PAUL RECREATION AREA BRIDGES
From the Issue:
September 2011The two foot bridges crossing the dams were deemed structurally unsafe. The Public Works Department replaced the old, worn out planking and THC Precision, owned by Todd Carter, in Troy, fabricated the steel railings.
The Selectmen are pleased that the voters approved this funding to make all the necessary repairs to keep the bridges safe. The foot bridges are part of the path used by the campers in the summer recreation program. The improvements, which cost $2,471.51, came in $28.49 under budget.
Our thanks to Public Works Director Jim Dicey, for estimating the project, for coming in under budget, and for building functional, sturdy, safe bridges. With so much going for the recreation area, and residents pleased with the effort, the success in terms of community interest has been tremendous.
Selectmen of Troy
Robert M. Cummings, Thomas A. Walsh, Russell W. Butler
