OLD HOME DAYS
From the Issue:
June 2010We have many activities planned. From the ball game on Thursday night to the Gap Mt Lions Club BBQ and the free band concert (Nelson Town Band) and movie on Friday night to all the entertainment and activities on Saturday. Everyone is sure to find an activity (or two) to make them smile. As in the past, Saturday will be filled with different activities. You can start your day off with a 5 km/3 mile road race (or walk). Be one of the first 25 to register for $10 and become the proud owner of a genuine Troy Old Home Day 2010 t-shirt.
Our entertainment line up for Saturday begins at 9 AM and includes many local people if not from Troy then from very close by.
The musicians include Bonnie Bagley, Tropical Sensations - steel drums, Troy Trio -Mark Clark, Sue Brumagin & Jan Firmin, Sonja Robbins, Norman Vaine & Co and Just Us (who will be helping with our sound system this year.) Maggie the Clown will again be on the common at noon on Saturday to the delight of all ages. The library has arranged for a magician at the Troy School Gym at 11 AM.
The ambulance will be on the common. There will be a tae kwon do demonstration. The bouncy house, courtesy of Little Monadnock Trails will be there in the afternoon. East Hill Farm will bring to the Common farm animals for petting in the morning. Walter Hood will return and present his basket weaving demonstration. (We will try to make sure the power does go out this time.) The Depot Commission will have a dunk tank. (We haven't heard who will yet be available to dunk.) Many of vendors will be presenting ongoing demonstrations of their crafts throughout the day. We are also working on various activities where you can participate.
If you can't find something to spark your interest, remember to come support the local non-profits. The 4-H'ers are planning on selling breakfast sandwiches on the common in the morning. The Fire Department will have their chuck wagon selling lunch. Christ Lutheran Church will have taco in a bag for sale. And who can forget dessert, a pie from the Trinitarian Congregational Church cooks or cookies and brownies from the Seniors.
If you are a Troy resident or non-profit group, as always there is no charge for a space. Please let us know if you are planning on participating. Thank you for making this a truly community event. Contact one of us if you have any questions or concerns.
