HERITAGE COMMISSION -
From the Issue:
April 2011After voting and attending Town Meeting, I realized that the Selectmen, department heads and budget committee did their very best to cut our town budget with fairness and without sacrificing needed services. Unfortunately, given the cost of our schools coupled with the state's current method of funding education, our property taxes continue to increase despite our town's best efforts. Where do we turn for help? What else can we do?
Most of us as individuals have cut back as much as is possible and are still strained to the limit but maybe, we as the departments, committees and organizations of the town of Troy can take one more step.
We of the Heritage Commission have decided to return $500. of our $600. budget to the Town and would like to ask that every department, committee and organization that receives a budget or donation from the town, join us. Please take one more look to see if you can make do with a little less; plan one more fundraiser instead or postpone one project. Please do whatever you can to help our town and our taxpayers and join us in taking that one step more. Thanks
